Despite what many modern critics say, Shakespeare's plays are written from a profoundly Christian perspective. This site presents literary criticism demonstrating that. To submit your essay for publication (arguing either for or against this position), email us - kevin @ thewordinc.org

Shakespeare and "Sir Thomas More"

Joseph Pearce is interviewed on Shakespeare's role in writing the play Sir Thomas More.

Shakespeare and Sir Thomas More

an interview with Joseph Pearce

A couple of months ago I was asked by the Spanish publisher, Rialp, to write the introduction to the first Spanish edition of the play, Sir Thomas More, which Shakespeare had a significant hand in writing. The extent of Shakespeare's role in the writing of the play is controversial. Although almost all scholars accept that Shakespeare wrote parts of the play, it is believed by some that he was in fact the principal author. Rialp asked me to do an interview stating the cae for Shakespeare's authorship of the bulk of the play, reflecting the arguments I employed in my introduction.
